Speaking of scammers, I just got an SMS from the "post office", saying that they needed to confirm my address in order to deliver a package and that I should make an application by accessing this URL (Japanese).

Naturally, I am always skeptic of anything that comes unsolicited via e-mail or SMS, so I trashed it… but I was thinking: what would prevent people less in the know from innocently clicking on this link and believing that it really was from the post office?

I guess the thinking process and question to ask here is: why would the post office have my e-mail address or phone number to SMS me, but not have my physical address? Why didn't they just try delivering the package, since it obviously must have my address on there if it were real?

Anyway, I feel sorry for people for decide to just click on the link. My standing rule of thumb is: if it's nobody I know, and I'm not expecting anything, then to the recycle bin it goes.
