Looks like the Cloudflare disruption yesterday was relatively minimal, although the monetary impact was said to be in the billions of dollars.
What surprises me is how much of the WWW is now tied to these services. Isn't the architecture of the WWW supposed to tolerate these kinds of disruptions, in principle? Why does one service going down affect so many other sites? I don't understand how Cloudflare going down would impact so many services and sites so severely, but apparently there is a lot of reliance on Cloudflare for some reason.
